Your own kitchen reference
The most useful recipe notes describe what happened in your kitchen.
Keep the starting point
Record the recipe name, where you found it and the date you cooked it. If you changed an ingredient or quantity, note that alongside the original rather than relying on memory.
Describe the result
Write down texture, flavor and the effort involved. “Good for a quiet Sunday” tells you something a star rating cannot. Include the pan you used if it noticeably affected the result.
Choose one next change
Leave yourself a single experiment for next time. Changing several things at once makes it harder to tell which change helped.
Make a short favorites page
Collect the meals you would happily cook again. Group them by effort or occasion, not by how impressive they sound. This turns yesterday’s notes into tomorrow’s meal ideas.
Keep it practical: pick one idea, try it with a familiar meal, and note what you would repeat.
